This plant blooms all summer!! It is not a true sunflower, it is in the aster family but a pollinator magnet and has good structural form. It is a short-lived perennial and lives about 5 years but expect to have several more seed in along the way! I run across it a lot in the wild and is not picky about soil whatsoever. It looks just as good along my mother’s white picket fence (pic 1) as it does growing in an abandoned field with wild bergamot at its side (pic 2).
